Awkward Moments

Have you ever had an awkward moment? Think back to your most recent! Mine have been pretty frequent, some funny, some humiliating, but all grew me and worked together for my good. I feel like most of young adulthood for me has consisted of a spiritual growth stage that has felt comparably as awkward as puberty. There has been so much testing and falling and learning and being okay with mistakes and undoing old belief systems and learning to draw boundaries, the list goes on... all of this has caused a greater and deeper search for the Lord (1 Cor. 2:10). I LOVE adventure and I LOVE exploring new places, but that is harder said than done in our spiritual/emotional journey of growth. The Lord asked me to let Him Father me in a new way which was really scary but He has been teaching me to let go of my training wheels and be okay with imperfection in order to be SENT off in the best direction. To not let my faith rest in the wisdom of man but the power of God (1 Cor. 2:5). Of course He is right there with me but my usual comfort zones were left aside in this new place of exploration and challenge. I was advancing in freedom but having to face more awkward situations and dig up long hidden insecurities to truly and fully deal with them. What I loved was one morning while reflecting on an awkward confrontation, the Lord began reminding me of the dissonance and the tension in music and that HE intercedes when we don't have words. I didn't even have to worry about my perceived awkwardness because He is SO FOR me! What a great RELIEF!!! Awkward is a natural part of life! Moreso, He works all things together for my good so my success never depends on my strength but HIS! What a sweet embrace to actually accept awkwardness into my life and let HIM do the talking for me. Maturity calls for awkward growth stages. If we really desire freedom and maturity, we are choosing to step into a place of looking completely foolish as we invoke the Spirit and search out the Father's heart. That's true wisdom and true connection with the Father- when nothing else on earth matters but where we stand with Him- in a relationship where we can fully and freely receive His love. The passage in Romans 8 below goes onto say HE IS FOR US and we are CONQUERORS because of Him! I am so thankful for AWKWARD and how it authentically uncovers the true victory we have in Him ALONE! I love that God uses what is foolish in the world to shame the wise and what is weak in the world to shame the strong (1 Corinthians 1:27)... so that our boast rests ONLY in HIM! HE IS JUST SO COOL!!!! “Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:26-28 ESV
